The Centre for Boreal Research is an innovative applied research facility in Peace River, 500 kilometers northwest of Edmonton, staffed with a team of research scientists and technicians with professional designations in forestry, biology and agrology.

The facility is 9,000 square feet, includes two laboratories, office space for 15 people, an outdoor growing space and a three-bay greenhouse that features computer-controlled humidity, temperature and lighting. The Centre for Boreal Research is an Approved Seed Testing Facility. The facility was funded by NAIT, Alberta Innovation and Advanced Education, and the Canada Foundation for Innovation, with industry funding from Shell Canada and Penn West Petroleum.

NAIT’s Centre for Innovative Media is an applied research centre working with industry to co-develop software and content innovations.

We are  focused on helping industry partners understand the innovative software tools available to transform their operations. After initial consultation, our team works with these partners to develop the software and content they require.

NAIT’s Centre for Sensors and System Integration is a research centre funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Created to partner with small and medium enterprises seeking coordinated innovation development services, the centre is staffed with highly qualified specialists and technologists experienced in providing prototype development solutions.

We help industry partners develop prototype devices that address sensor-based challenges in resource extraction, agriculture, biomedical, and advanced technology enterprises. Working with both established sensor devices and new or innovative devices, our team uses engineering technology to produce and evaluate prototypes for field trial.
