The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers students the opportunity to pursue an exceptional, high quality education in Canada’s largest mechanical engineering department.

Our 950 students (700 undergraduate and 250 graduate) learn in a thriving and dynamic environment emphasizing solid academics and sound hands-on skills. We offer traditional and co-op undergraduate programs (including a biomedical co-op option), as well as Master of Engineering, Master of Science, and PhD graduate programs.

Our students have exciting research and extracurricular opportunities, from the Undergraduate Research Program, to the Formula SAE team that annually designs, builds, and competes a race car, to Engineers Without Borders, to many more.

Our department is home to world-class research, with many of our researchers internationally renowned experts. Owing to the very high quality of our programs, the majority of our students experience excellent employment opportunities following graduation.
